    About The Wine

Zantho’s Zweigelt is an award-winning wine (Grand Prix Winner, Falstaff, 2011) that is now available in Ontario.

The grapes grow in Zantho vineyards around the villages of Andau and Jois which are characterized by dry, gritty and mineral soils. This Austrian region is called Seewinkel and offers ideal conditions for the Zweigelt grape.

    Tasting Notes:

Incredibly deep red characterizes Zantho’s Zweigelt. In the nose, the wine shows deep fruit of fresh cherries and dark berries with some hints of cinnamon. On the palate, the wine seduces with juicy fruit paired with fine acidity. The medium body is backed up by fine acidity and ends in a long and elegant finish.

    Food Pairing:

Enjoy this wine with pasta dishes and cheeses.

Wine Enthusiast, July 2011. Score: 90/100.

    Top Rank in Category

Tasting Notes: With black cherry fruits, spice and a leathery character, this is a firm tight wine. It has plenty of fruit and acidity to go with the tannins. There’s a chunky feel to it, the acidity waiting to come through on the finish.
